Table Mountain
The mountain is protected as and the whole of the Mountain is a proclaimed nature reserve. It is home to thousands of floral species, some of them only found on its slopes. The Table Mountain* Range extends all the way to Cape Point and the Peninsula derives most of its impressive character from it.

Table Mountain* provides the visitor with incredible views across the city, Table Bay and the Peninsula. Robben Island is clearly visible in the Bay and if you know, or ask, where to look you'll also be able to see the very popular beaches of Camps Bay* and Clifton far below. The mountain top boasts an impressive array of pathways, the energetic can walk around for hours. The really energetic may opt to walk up or down and use the cable way in the other direction. It is however wise to realise that this is a mountain and not just a hill, you need to be fit and well prepared - and you need to start early.

The new Swiss built cable car was only taken into service some two years ago. The whole system was rebuilt and offers both excellent safety as well as a smooth ride. On the way up/ down the floor of the car actually rotates a full 360 deg. This ensures that everyone gets a chance to enjoy the full breathtaking panorama. Although development on the mountain is kept to a minimum and strictly monitored the pathways are well kept and provide even surfaces. There is also a cafeteria and coffee shop as well as a small gift shop. There are also ablution facilities available. To really experience Cape Town* making the journey up the Mountain is a must!
