rates |
|
| Avis
Car Rental rates advertised on this website (www.afrilux.co.za)
are only applicable to rentals booked
through Africa Deluxe Tours. These are preferential
/ discounted all-inclusive rates and you will not qualify
for these rates renting directly through Avis. Rates on this
website are valid from 1 November
2005 until 31 October 2006, rates for later dates
are not yet available.
Minimum rental
period is three days.
Daily rates are calculated strictly in cycles of 24 hours,
from time of pickup or delivery to time of drop-off or collection.
Renters will
be charged directly by Avis for additional days rented, at
extension rates,
should a vehicle be returned late. Extension rates are much
more expensive than our preferential rates and you are advised
to contact us at least 72-hours in advance should you decide
to extend your rental once it has already commenced (24-hour
contact numbers for our office are provided to all our
clients).
We*
regret that our*
much reduced preferential rates do not qualify our clients
for any airline frequent flyer programme benefits. Every effort
has been made to ensure the accuracy of rates on this website,
in the highly unlikely event that rates are found to have
changed at the time of booking a rental, Africa
Deluxe Tours* will be under no obligation to the renter
to maintain advertised rates - nor shall the renter be obliged
to continue with a rental. |

driver's
license & minimum age for rental |
|
delivery/
collection charges |
|
|
|
| Renters
must be in possession of a valid
endorsed driver’s license for
their country of origin . The renter
and andy additional drivers must have been in
possession of a driver’s licence for a minimum of 3
years.
The minimum
age for rental is 21 years. There is a daily R114
young driver's surcharge for drivers younger than
21 - to be paid directly to Avis on collecting rental vehicle
using a Visa, Master, Diners Club or Ameican Express card.
(Where a renter is younger than 21, or has not had his/her
driver's licence for 3 years yet, this needs to be pointed
out to us at the time of booking your rental and we will try
to obtain special permission to award a rental anyway).
It is a legal
requirement in South
Africa* to be in possession of
your original driver’s license at all times whilst
driving a vehicle. An international
driver's license is not essential but our advice
is that you obtain one anyway (in most countries it is a mere
formality). |
|
If
applicable charges must be settled by the client directly
to Avis on delivery or collection of vehicle. Charges only
apply where your rental does not start and/or end at an Avis
branch.
4x4 Rentals:
Free delivery within a 50 km radius of the closest "Avis
Van Rental" office between Monday & Friday. Thereafter,
for deliveries in excess of 50km, R5 per km will be charged.
After hours, weekends and public holidays, R500 will be charged.
Africa
Deluxe Tours* will quote the applicable deliver and/or
collection charge(s) in the pre-payment invoice sent to you
on confirmation of your booking.
Other rentals:
R126 within office hours. R251 outside office hours on weekends
and public holidays. These fees apply to all deliveries and
collections in South
Africa* within a 25km radius of an Avis location. For
distances greater than 25km , a rate of R5 per km will be
applied. Africa
Deluxe Tours* will quote the applicable deliver and/or
collection charge(s) in the pre-payment invoice sent to you
on confirmation of your booking. |

additional
drivers
|
|
| Your
rental contract indicates the renter's particulars. If a 2nd,
3d, 4th person, etc., will also be driving the vehicle each
must be registered as an additional driver and a once-off
charge of R126 per additional driver will apply. You have
to pay this on picking up your vehicle.
This is
extremely important as in the case of a collision, theft,
medical emergency, etc., insurance cover included in your
rental will be nullified if the vehicle was driven by an unregistered
additional driver.

petrol/
gas deposit |
|
| The
petrol deposit is not included in our rates, or anyone else's.
Cars are delivered
with full petrol tank. You are charged for full refill upon
termination of rental. If you return the vehicle with full
petrol/gas tank no refill charge will apply.
You will be required
to either make a cash deposit of
R1000 or provide your credit card for an imprint
of the same value to cover these charges. We advise that
you use the credit card option as the money is only transferred
to Avis should they need to refill the returned vehicle's
tank, if not the hold on the R1000 in your account is simply
lifted.
In the case of
a cash deposit you will need to return your vehicle during
office hours in order for the balance of your deposit to be
refunded to you. The above deposit must be made directly to
Avis on collecting your vehicle. |

collision damage
waiver (cdw) &
theft loss waiver (tlw) |
|
| You
will be responsible for an insurance excess payment should
your vehicle be damaged in a collision or lost to theft. The
excess amount applicable to your rental are determined by
the insurance cover you choose, i.e. "maximum (100%)",
"standard" or "super cover" (excess amounts
indicated with rental rates). Excess payments applicable under
super cover is substantially lower compared to standard cover.
Where 100% cover is available (see rate tables for each country)
no excess will be payable, however a nominal fee, ±R456,
will be levied for the administratation regarding an incident
(theft or damage).
This
is subject to the following:
- the driver
at the time of the accident should be listed in the Avis
rental agreement (apart from the primary driver others may
be authorised for driving in the agreement at a surcharge
of R126 per person).
- The renter
will be responsible for damages if the vehicle was driven
on unsuitable roads, if the renter was driving negligently
or if no other car, animal or object was involved.
- Avis will
claim full damages where an accident/theft is due to gross
negligence.
- Avis will
claim full damages where driver was driving under the influence
of alcohol or drugs having a narcotic effect
Important:
In case of an accident you need to follow the "accident
management" process as it will appear in your copy of
your rental contract, which Avis will supply to you together
with your rental car. The main features of this process is
informing Avis within 6 hours of an accident, reporting the
accident to the police, taking down the details of the other
vehicles involved in the accident, details of witnesses and
not to arrange a tow-away without Avis' authority. |
