Of all the view sites along the majestic Panorama Route, Three Rondavels offers the best views. The viewpoint, ±60km north of Graskop lies just above the broadest section of the Blyde River Canyon. It offers views of the Three Rondavels - buttresses on the opposite side of the canyon, the Blyde River beneath, the Blydepoort Dam downstream and the mouth of the canyon where it opens up into the expanses of the Lowveld beyond.
On those of our tours* that include the Panorama Route, a knowledgeable tourist guide will point out the various natural features to you. You will also be introduced to some of the fascinating history of this specific area, including battles that took place in the mountainous terrain in the immediate vicinity. If you decide to travel on your own we advice that you bring along a reputable travel guidebook to unlock the mysteries of the place.
