Table Mountain as seen from Blouberg Strand (beach) - Table Bay

Overview
Table Bay extends to the north of Cape Town and is home to the Cape Town Harbour and Robben Island as well as two of Cape Town's beaches. Africa Deluxe Tours will gladly arrange for clients to participate in beach or ocean based activities if requested to do so, including guiding, training and/or provision of equipment if required.

Blouberg Strand & Table View
Suitable for: swimming (cold water!), windsurfing, Hobie Cats, kite-surfing, paddle skiing, family outings, kite flying, beach walking and Table Mountain views.

Blouberg Strand (Big & Little Bay) and Table View are in effect the same extended sandy beach but denote different sections thereof. These beaches are not located on the Peninsula but just of the it, across Table Bay from Cape Town (20km drive from the city centre). Girl and rocks - Blouberg StrandThey have the dubious honour of having the coldest water of all the beaches within the greater Cape Town area. Blouberg Strand, translated means "Blue Mountain Beach", referring to the spectacular views of Table Mountain as viewed from across Table Bay, from these beaches. Similarly Table View gets its name from the mountain views it offers.

Blouberg's Big Bay is a popular venue for surfing, windsurfing and paddle-skiing competitions and has a lifesaver's club. Little Bay is a good option for sunbathers and families. It also features a braai area. It's frequently windy at Blouberg (southeasterly winds), which is fine if you want to fly a kite or ride the waves but a nuisance otherwise. The long, empty and sandy beaches are popular with dog walkers, kite flyers and those wanting a peaceful stroll along the beach. There are many restaurants, all within a stone's throw of the beach, with excellent views of the city and of Robben Island (13km offshore in Table Bay), where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned.

As you get closer to the city and harbour (the main culprit) the more southerly beaches along Table Bay (Table View & Milnerton) tend to become lightly polluted. While the levels of pollution is quite low, if compared to other city beaches internationally, other Cape Town beaches do not have this problem and thus we do not really recommend the Table View and Milnerton beaches.
