Southern Africa offers visitors who enjoy gambling a wide choice of casinos. In Apartheid South Africa (before 1994) casinos where only allowed in the so-called homelands outside "white" South Africa. This was because of the Apartheid government's christian nationalist inclination. In a country where many things have changed dramatically since 1994 one of the more controversial changes has been the establishment of a host of new casinos. Some are located within the boundaries of the main metropolitan centres while the apartheid-era casinos in far-off exotic locations are mostly still in business. Casinos on offer in Southern
