The Buitenverwachting Wine Estate in Constantia - Cape Town
Overview
South African wines are well known and loved throughout the wine-drinking world. The heart of South Africa's wine production lies in the Cape Winelands but it is by no means the only area where South African wine is produced.

To make wine estates throughout South Africa more accessible to local and international tourists various producers and/or wine estates have established a host of wine routes in different wine producing regions of South Africa. Although they are called "routes", each route is in fact a collection of estates within easy reach of each other in the same geographical area. The Devon Valley Wine Region near Stellenbosch in the Cape Winelands. You will seldom be given a suggested route or an order in which to navigate them. Most information offices or websites connected to wine routes will provide you with a map indicating the various estates' location.

If you decide to explore one of these routes you'd be well advised to check on opening and closing times before setting out. Some estates are open seven days a week while others are only open on selected days of the week. Furthermore all estates do not offer the same opportunities. Some estates offer comprehensive programmes including guided wine tasting, cellar tours, onsite wine shops, private tastings, restaurants, etc. Other estates may only offer simple private tastings.

Africa Deluxe Tours normally includes a full-day wine tour for clients visiting Cape Town (if they have time available). However, we can also organise wine excursions for our clients into other wine regions. For knowledgeable wine lovers we can provide the services of a wine connoisseur (tourist guide) who knows a number of wine makers on first name basis and will give you a much more intimate introduction to South African wines, especially those in the Cape Winelands.
