- The Point Waterfront -
North Pier guards the northern entrance to Durban harbour, and it is from this point southwards around the quayside that the small Point Waterfront is located.

The Waterfront is located in Durban, for more info on the city click here.At any time of the day or night, North Pier is usually packed with ever-hopeful anglers patiently casting their lines into the ocean. Along the quayside are a number of bright modern venues where you can sit and watch ships, from small to massive, constantly moving in and out of Africa’s busiest port. Restaurants and bars on offer include The Famous Fish Company (seafood), Vintage India (Indian cuisine) and Thirsty's. There's also a hip dance venue for the young crowd called Blue Bottles. The Point Waterfront Festival Market (a flea market) operates every Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday from 09h00 to 17h00. Products include arts, crafts, African curios, clothing, gifts, electrical goods, jewellery, furniture foodstuffs, crockery cutlery and more.

One of the newest additions to the area is the Bluff or Millennium Tower, viewed across the harbour entrance, adorning the end of the green finger of the Bluff. The Tower was recently completed and serves a number of uses besides being an essential to shipping. A metal gridwork cowl swivels according the direction of the wind, lights indicate the tides and laser light displays are to be added in the evenings. Comprehensive future development of the waterfront is being planned.

Important notice: Service at the Waterfront's various shops may be interrupted during the planned widening of the Harbour's entrance channel, you would be well advised to check on the state of operations before heading in that direction.
