The term national park refers to a game/ nature reserve located within a particular country and managed by the national conservation body of that country. E.g. the Kruger National Park in South Africa is managed by South African National Parks, which is a statutory body tasked with conserving South Africa's natural heritage. A new development in Southern Africa is cross-border "peace parks", where national parks from neighbouring countries bordering each other are managed as a singular park (e.g. the Kgalagadi Park on the South Africa - Botswana border).
