Kruger Park's location in South Africa, click for South African map and info. The world-renowned Kruger National Park in South Africa was established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the Lowveld. The huge reserve stretches across two provinces - the Mpumalanga and Limpopo Provinces. It is a ±400km (250 mile) journey to travel from the most southern gate to the most northern park entrance. A well maintained network of roads, developed in such a way as to cause the least harm and intrusion to the environment, makes the park very accessible to self-drive visitors. Here you can venture out on true wildlife safaris in your own vehicle or you can take one of the guided safaris on offer from your rest camp.

Kruger offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. It is unrivalled in the diversity of its wildlife and a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques and policies. Truly the flagship of the South Africa's national parks, Kruger is home to an impressive number of species: 336 tree, 49 fish, 34 amphibian, 114 reptile, 507 bird and 147 mammal including the big five (elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard and lion).Mike Smuts, MD of Africa Deluxe Tours, observing elephant from a park bench in Kruger's Skukuza Rest Camp.

The conservation services endeavour to preserve natural ecosystems in the most pristine state possible. This not only implies that the full range of animal and plant species and their habitats are protected, but also that ecological processes are allowed to take their course (droughts, high rainfall and in some instances even disease).

Africa Deluxe Tours provide various guided and self-drive tours that include Kruger in the itinerary, follow the "tours & safaris" link to our website at the bottom of this page for more info on available tours.
