- Graskop -

Graskop's location in South Africa, click for South African map and info.Graskop is a small logging town situated on the Mpumalanga Highveld, right on the edge of the escarpment with easy access to the Lowveld. Graskop is an Afrikaans word meaning "head of grass" or "grassy hillock". It is the perfect base from which to explore the magnificently scenic Panorama Route.

The town centre is not very attractive although Harry's Pancake Palace is worth a visit (Pancakes = Crepe's). There are a couple of accommodation options in and around town. The best is probably the mid-range Mogodi Lodge which has a perfect location on the edge of the Graskop Gorge with views over the Lowveld. It is just outside of town providing peace and quiet. It also has a restaurant and swimming pool on site.
