Game ranger / guide - |
|
When Africa Deluxe Tours refers to a game ranger (or guide) in relation to a person providing services to tourists in a game reserve the term should not be interpreted to be the person primarily responsible for conservation functions within a reserve or national park. In the tourism industry the term is used more loosely to indicate persons whose primary responsibility is to guide tourists in exploring a wildlife area. This is not to say that they do not contribute to conservation. They will typically double as extra eyes and ears for the park or section ranger, assist in fighting veld fires and make others small contributions. However, they are primarily tourist guides who have specialised and registered as so-called field guides. In order to register as a field guide an individual must prove that he/she has extensive knowledge on a wide range of subjects relating to nature including wildlife.
