Cinema Nouveau is a speciality brand of movie houses within the larger, much more mainstream, Ster Kinekor group. While regular Ster Kinekor cinema complexes feature, with a few exceptions, main stream mass consumption Hollywood blockbusters, Cinema Nouveau caters for discerning movie lovers. In South Africa these type of movies are branded "art movies". A good section of these art movies are foreign language movies, i.e. non-english with English sub titles, and a good portion normally hails from Europe. However, art movies from America, east block countries, Asia, etc. are not uncommon. Cinema Nouveau theatres are only found in a couple of urban centres in South Africa.
