Africa Deluxe Tours (Afrilux)*, established in 1998, is a South African* based inbound tour operator* and broker* serving clients from across the globe. We specialise in custom* and packaged tours* for groups, families, couples and individual travelers. Our consultants provide a personalised professional service to customers, drawing on their superior knowledge of the Southern* & East African regions.

Most of our clients purchase tours based on 5-star accommodation although we do serve the middle-range (3 & 4-star) market as well. We do not deal in budget tours (e.g. backpackers, camping, etc.). Destinations include: South Africa*, Swaziland*, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya and Tanzania.

Virtual integration
Africa Deluxe Tours* is run on the basis of virtual integration, i.e. we employ few personnel directly and rather contract the appropriate competencies as they are needed. The pool of professionals that we draw from, in some cases specialist companies, enables Afrilux* to expand and contract virtually to meet varying obligations. This makes us competitive both in terms of cost and flexibility.

For a small family touring South Africa* for two weeks we'll typically contract four or more people, acting as our agents, to service them as they fly in and out of main tourism centres (guiding*, meet & greet, etc.). In-house staff will work behind the scenes on pre-tour arrangements and on monitoring the smooth operation of the tour once in progress. As more or fewer different tour parties tour simultaneously the number of people under contract will similarly increase or decrease.

Staff
Virtual integration enables Afrilux* to operate with a core staff compliment of only 5 people, although this number is set to increase. All are university graduates and have substantial decision making authority in the company. Every staff member has a direct interest in the profit of the company. Research & Development
Continual research, including traveling thousands of kilometres annually, ensures an intimate knowledge of the region's tourism product. We network actively with other role players in the industry and capture information in a well managed IT system. Our products are re-evaluated and updated continuously.

Contracting specialist suppliers
Africa Deluxe Tours* is a tour operator* and broker*. We are specialists in putting together focused value for money tour packages and serving our clients on a personalised basis. We empower customers with up to date information and the ability to adjust a proposed tour package to their own needs.

In tourism areas where we are not specialists ourselves our research, and contractual relationships, equips us with a network of specialist suppliers whom we contract at preferential rate levels to serve specific functions within a particular client's tour. Thus we ensure that our clients get the best quality available in the industry, at reduced rates.

Suppliers
Afrilux* have preferential rate contracts with all the large accommodation groups including Sun International, Southern Sun (Holiday Inn, Inter-Continental, etc.), Protea Hotels, Relais, etc. We also deal with a large pool of small individual establishments, such as guest houses. Specialised luxury tour coach operators provide for the transport needs of groups. For self-drive* clients we rely on a very advantageous preferential rates contract with Avis Rent A Car. For guided tours* we draw from a large pool of qualified and registered tourist guides* catering for various languages and special interest areas such as wildlife, history, botany, viniculture, birding, etc.
