Virtual
integration enables Afrilux*
to operate with a core staff compliment of only 5 people,
although this number is set to increase. All are university
graduates and have substantial decision making authority
in the company. Every staff member has a direct interest
in the profitability of the company. All also belong to
the same extended -happy- family! (Yvonne and Elise are
sisters) |

Mike
Smuts (ii) |
|
 Prior
to starting up Africa
Deluxe Tours (Afrilux)*, together with Yvonne
in 1998, Mike Smuts (ii) was Media Spokesperson for the University
of Pretoria of which he is also a graduate. He has experience
in public relations, electronic and print media (journalism
& design), and has received various awards for his managerial
skills. He is also a registered tourist
guide* although he finds little time for actually guiding
customers himself.
Mike is co-owner of the company. As MD he is responsible for
the general management of the company but also takes responsibility
for various other functions of the business including information
technology development & management, marketing,
research & development and supplier relationships (networking

Yvonne
Smuts |
|
Prior to starting up Africa
Deluxe Tours (Afrilux)*, together with Mike
(ii) in 1998, Yvonne was the principal (headmaster) of a
school for severely mentally handicapped children in Kempton
Park (greater Johannesburg*).
She is a skilled administrator with excellent abilities in public
relations. Yvonne is a registered tourist
guide* although she prefers focusing her energies on operations
management for Afrilux.
She is co-owner and the Operations Director of the company.
Her areas
of responsibility include client relations, enquiries, quotations

Mike
Smuts (i) |
|
Mike (i) is a retired church minister who held various positions
in the Dutch
Reformed Church's General Synod. At the time of his retirement
in 2001 he was the vice-chairman of the church's General Synodical
Committee and member of the Executive Committee. He made valuable
contributions to Afrilux from the outset but only joined his
wife and son in the
business, on a full time basis, at the time of his retirement
from the ministry.
Mike is our Financial Director (CFO).
He also assists Yvonne in the fields of
client relations, enquiries, quotations and tour operations.

At
& Elise McDonald |
|
 At
McDonald is a retired school principal (headmaster)
from Polokwane, previously known as Pietersburg. He is a skilled
administrator and manager with a wealth of experience.  At
heralds from a farming family and has managed his own small
livestock farm during and after his retirement from teaching.
Elise McDonald is a retired
teacher. She has excellent language abilities and is a skilled
writer and administrator.
Elise and At joined Africa
Deluxe Tours* in early 2003. They have taken over the
management of our Avis Car
Rental section. This department of our business has always
shown great promise but has needed dedicated attention.
At and Elise now ensures that our car rental clients gets
